No. It validates the VIN’s basic format and prepares a local reference preview. The recall status remains “Not checked”. For actual U.S. recall results, use NHTSA’s lookup or the vehicle manufacturer’s service.
What happens to the VIN I enter?
The application keeps it in the current page’s memory for the format check and modal preview. It is not sent in requests, added to the URL, saved in browser storage, or included in analytics. Reloading starts a new reference.
Why does my VIN need 17 characters?
This tool is designed for the 17-character format. It accepts Latin letters and numbers, except I, O, and Q. Other identifier formats, including some older vehicles’ identifiers, are outside the scope of this checker.
Does “Valid format” mean my vehicle is safe?
No. It only means that the length and character rules passed. It does not verify the VIN’s existence, its check digit, the vehicle’s condition, or whether a recall exists.
Can I get a full vehicle report here?
No. The details window is a static preview with placeholder text. “Get full report” is intentionally disabled. There is no purchase, download, or account registration.
